A wide difference.

The difference between the Democrats and John McCain is clear enough. The Democrats want to find a way out of the disaster, however provisional and imperfect, and McCain equates staying the disastrous course with patriotism. McCain's doomed promise of military "victory" in Iraq is akin to Wile E. Coyote's perpetual pursuit of the Road Runner. Unlike the cartoon, however, people - American people - are dying in the futile chase. This is not patriotism. The truth is, doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different result is the definition of stupidity.
